How to improve your connectivity

Connectivity issues can be caused by signal strength fluctuations. Your camera may stop sending photos or miss a transfer. For example, your transfer frequency settings in your app might be set at 6 times per day, but your camera only sends an update 4 times per day. This could happen due to disruptions of the nearest cellular tower. You may check this article to understand how your camera communicates: Understanding how your camera communicates.

A few things to know:

  • Note that the signal strength can differ depending on the location and the cellular tower your VOSKER camera is connecting to. This means that the signal strength you have at home is likely to be different from the signal you have in your target area. So, make sure to test your VOSKER camera in your target area, even if you’ve already tested your camera at home.
  • You can check if your camera is communicating by logging into the VOSKER mobile app > Status > Last Communication. It should communicate within a few minutes, but if it takes more than 10-15 minutes, wait for all lights to go OFF, then try powering OFF your camera and then back ON in a location with a better signal.
  • 25% or 1/5 bars of signal strength is likely to cause transmission issues.

To improve signal, we recommend trying the following:

  • Power the camera OFF and then back ON (*only power OFF the camera when all lights are OFF).
  • Make sure the antenna is screwed in tightly.
  • Try positioning the antenna at a different angle.
  • Try using an External Long Range Cellular Antenna (#V-ANT01).
  • Make sure to test the camera in your target area
  • Try installing your camera in a different location, so it can try connecting to a different cellular tower.

Best practices for better signal strength:

  • Find a clear area, avoid dense areas.
  • Avoid large metal/concrete structures.
  • The signal may vary from day to day, a camera may transmit photos for a few days and then suddenly stop in the case of weak signal strength.
  • Check the light pattern/screen code depending on your model for potential errors
